Day 417 - Kettle Sings - Malvern | ||

The Malverns tonight, looking a bit light but I had plans... I arrived to light winds, took off and managed about 10 minutes scratching around in the very weak thermals before top landing. The second flight was to be a top to bottom but I was testing my selfie stick for tandem use and ran int oa thermal en route to landing so climbed back above Take Off, then went and landed, about 15 minutes total. Back up to Take Off and a tandem flight was on the cards in preparation for Spain in two weeks. I set up and launched ok, flew around a while then the landing. I came in with trimmers on, and took two wraps of each brake, this was a nil wind landing and was fast, I brake to try and put the wing into stall but couldn't! we landed fast on our backsides, no damage or pain, just not what I had planned. My passenger was around 95Kg so that may account for the speed and brake pressure with the glider being at over 90% of its full capacity, but at least I learnt that the Gin Yeti clip on airbag works.
