Day 398 - Kettle Sings - Malvern | ||
06 06 2016 | ||
The usual story, on paper, all looked like it would be a great evening
session at the Malvern's, on arrival there was nobody flying, just before I was
due to go home three Paragliders took off so I went to launch. Took off into light winds but it was soarable, only to approx 150ft ATO but easily flyable. I boated about for a while then set off for the North end of the Malvern's. Arriving at the Wyche Cutting only 38ft ATO I decided to go for it as the wind seemed to have a bit of South in it and I thought the Southerly facing side of the Beacon would lift me up to the top - it didn't, I had to scratch by the quarry and only just managed to get onto the lower slope of the Beacon, and not enough wind to let me scratch my way up so I gave up quickly and set off back - a long slow very low flight back got me to Take Off very very low, I only just managed to scratch back up to land on top. The second flight was a few minutes scratching then landing as the wind was way too light. Not bad though, an hour and 15 mins after work :-)
